WhereLoveIs

I am only one - but I am one. I can't do everything, but I can do something. What I can do, I should do and with the help of God I will do. - Everet Hale

Practical Assistance

We're grateful to receive practical assistance in the form of tangible resources that can be used for WhereLoveIs projects. Books,  School Supplies kits, First Aid kits, Hygiene kits, back packs, games, nice blankets, sewing machines etc. are very welcome. A sewing machine (along with a starting stock of material) can become a family's primary source of income.

Volunteering

In the future, WhereLoveIs will rely heavily on volunteers in every area of it's work in Ethiopia and in the U.S.  We have not yet set up a formal volunteer program in Ethiopia, but we'll probably try one or two volunteers in the near future, When we are ready, volunteers will need to raise enough money to pay for round-trip travel to Ethiopia and around $5 per day for living expenses in Ethiopia.

If you'd like to be considered for future volunteer openings, please send us an email to introduce yourself. Please let us know if you have skills or experience that would be helpful.

Direct this correspondance to:
Volunteer@whereloveis.org

No matter a person's expertise, what we really need most right now are people who are passionate about helping children, and have creativity and vision.

Volunteer skills likely to be valuable in Ethiopia (none of these are required)

- children and people skills (loves to listen, play soccer, learn etc.)
- water, and sanitation knowledge
- construction (framing, welding, cement work, masonry, electrical, finishing etc.)
- farming, ranching, dairy...
- sewing & other marketable crafts (or the distribution & marketing of handicrafts)
- micro-finance
- teaching
- nursing & other medical
- Ethiopian language skills (Amharic, Oromifa etc.)

In the not too distant future, we will have a volunteer coordinator to handle volunteer correspondance, perform volunteer background checks, schedule volunteers, create training materials, etc.

US Tax Information:

We don't yet have 5o1c(3) status, so we can't guarantee that donations will be tax-deductable. However, we are preparing the appropriate forms, and we're hoping to be approved later this year (2008). When 501c(3) status is granted, it's our understanding that this status is retro-active for up to 18 months back to the date of incorporation (Nov 2007). However, please don't assume our understanding is correct in this matter.

If tax deductions are important to you, please consult your own tax professional for advice on the matter.
